Terms of use

The plain-language terms on which we provide this website, the free chess report card, and our classes.

This website

The content on 64moves.com — including the published method, the curriculum descriptions and the articles — is provided for information. You are welcome to read it, quote it with attribution, and use the checklists in it on any academy, including ours. You may not republish it wholesale as your own.

The free chess report card

The test is free and there is no obligation attached to it. It is a chess diagnostic, not a psychological or educational evaluation, and the report says so on its face. It does not produce a FIDE, Chess.com or Lichess rating and it is not a substitute for one.

The report reflects performance on eight positions on one day. Children have bad days. Treat it as a starting point for a conversation, not as a verdict.

Classes

Batch size is capped at six students. This is a commitment, not a target.

Fees are published in full on the fees page. There is no admission fee, no annual fee and no material fee. Tournament entry fees, where a student chooses to compete, are paid by the parent directly to the organiser at cost.

Billing, pauses and rescheduling: [CONFIRM: billing cycle, pause policy and reschedule terms]. See also the refund policy.

Attendance is the student’s responsibility. We will always tell you what was missed.

What we do not promise

We do not guarantee a rating, a rating gain, a tournament result, a place in a team, or an academic outcome of any kind. We make no claims that chess improves IQ, school performance or attention, and nothing on this website should be read as one.

What we do commit to is the process described on the method page: the published curriculum, the batch cap, weekly analysis of your child’s own games, and a written monthly report.

Conduct

We ask students to be on time, to shake hands, and to analyse a lost game as carefully as a won one. We ask parents not to coach from the side of the room during a class. We reserve the right to end an enrolment where behaviour makes the room unworkable for the other five students, and we will always speak to you first.
