Individual coaching
Worth it for tournament preparation, a large gap between a child and their batch, or an adult on an awkward schedule. For everyone else, the group batch is the better buy — and we will say so.

Do you charge for tournament entries?
No. If your child plays a rated event, you pay the organiser directly, at cost. We do not add anything to it and we do not take a commission.
Why are online and one-to-one prices not listed?
Because they have not been finalised, and we would rather show you a marked gap than a number that changes when you call. Every price on this page that exists is real.
What do chess classes cost in Bangalore?
Chess coaching in Bengaluru broadly runs between ₹2,000 and ₹8,000 a month, and the spread is real rather than a matter of branding. Four things move the price, and it is worth knowing which one you are paying for.
Batch size is the biggest single factor
A batch of twenty can be run at ₹1,500–₹2,500 a month and still work commercially. A batch of six cannot. Most of the difference between a ₹2,000 class and a ₹4,000 class is simply how many children are in the room, and it is the variable that most affects whether your child is actually taught or merely supervised. When you are quoted a price, ask for the batch cap as a number.
Coach rating and coaching experience
A FIDE-rated coach costs more than an unrated one, and a titled coach costs considerably more again. Worth knowing: playing strength and teaching skill are only loosely related, particularly for young beginners. A 2100-rated coach who is good with seven-year-olds is worth more to a seven-year-old than a 2400 who is not. What a rating does give you is verifiability — a FIDE ID is a fact you can check in ten seconds, which is more than most credentials in this market offer.
Group versus one-to-one
One-to-one chess coaching in Bengaluru typically starts around ₹800–₹1,500 per hour and rises steeply with the coach’s rating. It is the right choice less often than it is sold: for most children a batch of six delivers more improvement per rupee, because peers, comparison and mild competitive pressure are part of what makes practice happen at all.
Online versus in person
Online is usually somewhat cheaper for the same batch size, since there is no room to pay for. It is not automatically better value: a large online batch at a low price is the worst combination in this market, and it is also the most common one.
What to check before you pay anybody
- The batch cap, as a number rather than an adjective
- Whether the syllabus is published before you enrol
- Whether a coach’s credentials can be verified independently
- What written feedback you receive, and how often
- What happens to your money if you need to pause or stop
